math granting it

This week I get the great opportunity to learn how to be a better math teacher. Today we discussed a lot of algebraic thinking and how we can get these important concepts into our instruction at all levels.

on the road again...

This weekend was a marathon of driving. Thursday was to Prior Lake. Friday was from Minneapolis (stayed over with Julie) to Grantburg to pick up Anders from camp and back home again and then to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul for the Lynx game. Saturday was to Sartell to see Jenna's beautiful home and pick up Mom to go to Matt Zellmer's wedding in Brooklyn Park and back home to pick up Katie to take her to Grantsburg for bible camp starting Sunday and back home again. Today Anders, Osten and I drove to St. James for the Pierson reunion and home again.

We usually don't drive that much, but we covered lots of miles and saw lots of amazing people and games.

lynx!

On Friday, the 23rd, I got to take two of my favorite kiddos on planet earth to the Minnesota Lynx and Washington Mystics basketball game at the Xcel Energy Center. Katie's team had the opportunity to do the tunnel for the players before the game.

Great game with the final score being 93-76. Both kiddos ran down to the court as the game was ending and we all ended up safely at home once again.

hello

On Thursday the 22nd, my dear friend Julie and I met in Prior Lake at Mystic Lake casino to see a fun performer, Lionel Ritchie in concert. The skies were beautiful as was the music and friendship.

Thanks for a fun concert Julie and Lionel!

summer fun with finger and toe nails

Katie and I planned a fun day at the nail salon. We arrived and two of my friends were there on a Mom play date. One of them decided to treat me to my new manicure/pedicure...Beth and Claire, I adore you both and thank you for treating me to a day of indulgence!

4H meeting

Last night, we had a 4H meeting at Glen Park. We got a chance to head down to the dam and hear a nice presentation from Michael Page about the dam and the proposal to remove the dam in the near future.

After we heard the presentation, we headed to the pool and swam for an hour. I love our town!

happy Fathers Day!

There are many fathers whom I admire, but here are just a few that are the top of my list:

bronze for MN State Baseball Tournament

Evan and the Red Rock Central/Westbrook Walnut Grove Falcons won in their final game of the season. They had a great 12-0 victory over Wabasha Kellogg on Friday, June 16 in just 5 innings.

Earlier in the day, they met their match with Parkers Prairie and were defeated 3-8 in 7 innings.

What a great way to end the season!

happy birthday dear brother Kyle

My smart, handsome, generous, kind, encouraging and strong brother Kyle Dean is enjoying a wonderful day for his birthday. You have many people who admire you brother. Thank you for letting your light shine.

beginnings of baseball love

Evan's 7 year old cousin Osten is enjoying his t-ball season. They had their 2nd game on a beautiful Wednesday evening. Here are some photos:

take me out to the ballgame

Wow! I got a chance to attend the first round of the Minnesota Baseball Tournament yesterday. Evan and the Red Rock Central Westbrook Walnut Grove team played Fosston. The game started at 12:30. I arrived about 1:15 and got a chance to wave to Evan as he was in mid center field during the top of the 2nd inning.

Throughout the game, I gave running commentary to Brad.
1. Evan hit a nice single to center and RRC just scored their 4th run
2. Evan stole home on a wild pitch
3. Score is 7-1 in the bottom of the 4th
4. Another hard hit to center. Fielder dropped the ball so it was a single by error
5. He just had a great catch in center to end the top of the 5th
6. There's a kid named Cole Olson from Fosston--cool huh? Evan also had another nice catch.
7. Another nice hit by Evan and got to 2nd on a bunt.
8. Bases loaded bottom of 6th. 10-1. 1 out.
9. Bases loaded bottom of 6th. 2 out.
10. Batter is walked and Evan comes in for the winning run.

Next game...same location against Parkers Prairie (ranked 1st) while RRC/WWG is ranked 4th. The game is today and Joan has assured me that she will keep me posted as the game progresses ;).

Because I love statistics, the Falcons are now ranked 79th in MN and 3920 in the nation.
Parkers Prairie is ranked 40th in MN and 2129 in the nation.
