15th half marathon!

My first EC half marathon in the 2020s! First was in 2009, second in 2019 and third in 2023. In my training, my right knee started hurting so I opted to run the first quarter mile of each mile and walk the last 3/4. It worked great and I beat my goal of 3 hours by completing in 2 hours and 52 minutes. It was COLD and WINDY, but once I got moving, it was perfect.

Crowds were great, the water and Gatorade stops were appreciated and I got a glass of wine and a banana along the way. Hi fives with foam hands and a radio DJ we’re appreciated along with cow bells and words of encouragement. Before the start, I met some nice people from North Carolina, Altoona and Menomonie. While we were huddling to keep warm by the bathrooms. The marching band (not Anders) had some members playing as we ran through campus and lots of students were there to cheer. Unfortunately, Brad, Anders and Osten missed my crossing the finish line because I had predicted I would be slower in my finish.

We did meet up and then went to lunch at Toppers Pizza and discussed Anders and Osten’s upcoming birthday celebration.

So happy to have this opportunity and the support of my family!

junior prom for Katie

Katie and her date Theo went to prom with 6 other friends. As we were taking pictures, a nasty wind  and sleet started blowing and pouring down. After the dance, they plan on heading to the office to have snacks and watch movies. She has a nice group of friends. I hope she remembers this night as well as I remember my Junior prom 34 years ago tonightšŸ„°

4 brothers same tee shirt

This may be the sweetest collage I’ve ever seen. So happy all brothers were able to wear the same shirt on earth day. They are the Mitchell brothers and I had the pleasure of teaching the 2nd one a few years ago.

boomer sooner!

We made it to the Sooner spring football game! Got
to see the team take the field. Heard a rousing speech from the coach. Saw a whole giant group of former Sooner players. Kyler Murray had his Heisman statue unveiled at the game and spoke at half time. A bunch of other Sooner Heisman winners also posed with Kyler at the end of his speech.

So fun hanging out with Marci and Coulter and meeting Marci’s family—brother, nieces and parents. Now we’re headed to the pool to recreate and will be heading home early tomorrow morning.

heading to Oklahoma adventure part 1

At 6 am Marci & Coulter picked us up in River Falla and at 7:45pm, we arrived in Moore, Oklahoma. They are really fun traveling companions! Ate at our first Brahms and Del Rancho. Now we’re watching the Timberwolves game & will soon head to bed.

This beautiful field of tulips was in Kearney, Missouri…1,600,000 bulbs!

On my walk this evening I noticed the river was even higher! I wonder when it will crest.

rivers alive

The rivers in the area are filled with the plentiful melted snow and rain. I was shocked to see the Kinni so high this evening on my walk.

summer sheets and slide back to winter

Switched the sheets to summer ones and snow made another appearance in our landscape. I hope it doesn’t last long. Brad’s up north turkey hunting so I decided to turn the furnace back onšŸ˜Ž

april showers

With the recent really hot weather…there is a reprieve of rain and now the trees are budding…April showers bring May flowers. Osten and the Dolphins had a football game this morning. They lost 3 touchdowns to one to the Buccaneers. Osten and his buddy Wil went to the Dungeons and Dragons movie and are now working planning a sleepover. Spring is here!
