celebrating a positive and impactful person

Today I attended the funeral of Tom Stephen. He’s a retired Lutheran pastor whose wife taught at a Montessori school in Kansas City for many years and then came to RFPME until she retired a few years before I strarted. 

Tom and Carol volunteered for many years Tom while Carol was teaching and both after she retired. Tom’s taught music and was an unofficial counselor. He taught my students on several occasions and he was magical with story telling and voice usage. 

At his funeral, his brother sang and their resemblance was uncanny. His daughter read scripture and another brother eulogized. What a beautiful tribute to an amazing person who sought friendship with people on the fringe. I really loves the framed print Tom printed and illustrated:
