It started on Friday evening. A mountain of laundry
was calling my name to be folded so before we headed to a weekend home with the
Blomgren's I decided I would answer that call and fold/put away laundry.
It was so liberating to actually perform that task and know that it wouldn't be
waiting for me when we returned.
We hit the road at about 7:30pm and made good time on our homeward journey. A and K spent two hours reading during our trip...it was super cool as they were plowing through Illustrated Classics for Girls and Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief. Lights out in the van about 9:30 and all three kids fast asleep in about 15 minutes. Arrived in Mt. Lake at 10:45pm and put the kiddos to bed and in the process, fell asleep myself.
Saturday--up at 6:15am with O and K woke shortly thereafter. At about 7:15, Brad woke and I asked him to watch the kids while I went back to bed. Back up at about 9:00 refreshed and restored. Visiting and a relaxing day with A, Brad and Dad going to Okabena to watch cousin Ryan in a basketball tournament. We then ventured to St. James to eat Pizza Hut pizza lovingly prepared by Kyle Jr. and equally lovingly served by his twin Adam. Then home to fun and frolic. A went to spend the night at Ryan's. O decided to get physically ill and it was a long night. It was truly amazing though as he smiled through it all and was so patient as I ran upstairs to get another drink of water.
Sunday--up at 9:00am to a sleepy O and wonderful Daddy who held his little boy until he felt better. Contemplated leaving to avoid sharing germs with family, but stayed for Dad's 79th birthday party where Cory, Joan, Thomas, Evan, Trenton, Kim, Liana, Ryan, Kurt, Ross, Vance, Mom, Dad, Brad, myself and K, O & A celebrated and sang Happy Birthday. It was a delicious meal of ham, Houselog family recipe potatoes, snickers salad, oreo salad, squash and sweetcorn. After visiting a large part of the day, we got back into the minivan at 5pm and headed back to River Falls.
K and A ended up reading another three hours on the drive home...K got to page 307 in her Illustrated Classics for Girls. At the age of 7! A continued reading when we got home and ended up reading nearly five hours yesterday. My eyes would be exhausted!
It was a great weekend, but it's good to be home and so far, the rest of us (knock on wood) are ok with our tummies.
