the National Archives, Mount Vernon & closing dinner

Oh my goodness, all great things must come to an end. Our June 14-23 has been a dream come true.

This very hot and humid day dawned and we drove to the National Archives seeing the Magna Carta, the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We also saw fantastic display of photography of coal mining families in the early 1900s.

Next was lunch at our apartment to help clean up our great leftovers. On the road to Mount Vernon. What a lovely estate brimming with history. The heat index was 112 which made us just sweat standing around. Osten and I walked down to the river front and to Washington’s grave. We toured the estate that is in the midst of renovation and had a virtual tour so we could see what the full home looks like when not being torn apart.

We drove back to the apartment & had a little rest while watching fun YouTube videos about food rankings. Lastly we went to Ian and Shannon’s to have Mexican food for dinner, watch the Twins game and start planning our next DC adventure. We each gave our final rankings and bid our fond farewell’s.
