fingers and toes

Last week, K and I went to our neighborhood beauty parlor to have our fingers and toes made beautiful. Here is the result:

Unfortunately, K was swimming and several of her finger nails were made nude when the paint lifted itself off the nail (it felt like a little piece of plastic) and floated away...we will have to share that with our beauty operator so she avoids using that polish in the future.

tour

We just took a tour of our school that is getting a few updates including a new office area and three new classrooms. I'm confident that the work will be completed in three weeks, but I think it may be a bit of a squeeze on time and talent. I think the end result will be lovely.

Joe and Grandpa Bud celebrated their birthdays in Door County this weekend. Joe turned 9 while visiting his Dad in Montana and Bud made it to 73 on August 8. Great way to celebrate.

door bound again

We are about to embark on our second Door County adventure of 2015. This time we will be fishing and staying in Sturgeon Bay. To safe and fun travels!

I've had the delight of teaching preschoolers music at VBS. It's been really great leading a group of young Christians. O has been doing a great job of participating and including kids that may feel a little uncomfortable. What a wonderful observation to make!

north west fur company

On Saturday afternoon, the kids, Betty and I headed to the North West Fur Trading Company museum near Pine City, MN. The museum in part of the Minnesota History Center and I want to take full advantage of our awesome membership.

Great exhibit and tour by a gentleman who reminded us of Nate Weaver-Olson and who engaged the kids in the tour so nicely. A diamond in the rough for sure.

Here is a snippet from their website:

Step into a reconstructed fur post from the winter of 1804. Meet a French voyageur, a British fur trade clerk and visit an Ojibwe encampment. The visitor center houses an expansive exhibit gallery with a 24-foot birch canoe, a 30-foot tall stone fireplace and a gift shop. The Snake River heritage trails are open year round for hiking, snowshoeing and skiing.
