Legendary rapper Coolio passed away today. Brad’s friend Ashan sent a message to let me know and to pass along to Brad. 

I guess it’s a sign of the times…I got asked if I got the senior discount today at Family Fresh and a rapper from my generation died. The world continues to turn!

Brothers Kent and Kurt recently turned 60. Kurt’s daughter, Jenna planned and implemented a nice 60th birthday party for her Dad. In reflection posted this and some very nice photos. I chose a few, but there are many gems. 

My house and farm have been busy the past 3 weeks hosting four generations of Blomgren’s.  First, my Mom stayed a few weeks to help stabilize her diabetes.  This was enjoyable and successful.  It helped to have Stuart’s family visit for a week and Jenna’s family for a long weekend.  Vance and Kaitie are close by and visited often.  Here a few photos of the highlights from the farm as we began harvest.

On Saturday, after her swim meet, Katie and her friend Grace went to River Falls homecoming with their boyfriends Mason and Brady. They had dinner and pictures in Hudson and then went to the dance. Katie said her favorite part was going out for dinner at Little Italy. 

In a few weeks she’ll be attending Mason’s homecoming in New Richmond.

Katie swam 4 events at the U of M pool today. I just missed her first event, but got to see the other three. She did well and said she was pleased with her performance. Just keep swimming!

move in day for Mom!

A bright and early morning heading to St. James to help Mom transition from time back on the farm to her new digs at Brandt Ridge assisted living. An overwhelming thanks to Kyle, Kim, Adam, Erica, Ryan and Summer for helping move Moms stuff from her apartment to her new home. We walked in and it felt like home. We spent a few hours getting settled with the help of Stuart, Kyeanna, Kesleigh and Beckham. Had lunch and dinner together and then it was time for me to head home. I hope you love your new place Mom and I plan to come and visit soon! 

wow it’s hailing!

I was going to drive to Butterfield to spend the night at Kurt’s house in preparation for Mom’s move to Brandt Ridge tomorrow. I’m glad I didn’t. Severe thunder with hail here in RF! 

That’s a tennis ball sized hail stone near the plant…yikes!

The River Falls Wildcat swim team had a great dual meet versus Tartan tonight. Katie placed first in all her events and fellow team mate, Ellery broke two pool records and one school record. The football team had a big group that was there to cheer on the swimmers. It was very exciting to have them there. I imagine River Falls placed first, but the results will come in soon.

What a joyous day when you made our parents the happiest people ever. Happy birthday Kent and Kurt! You’ve both made quite an impact on the world.

Saturday was also a day filled with fun and friends. Anders and Lindsey went to the Renaissance Festival

Osten went to his buddy Austin’s grandmas house to ride 4 wheelers, swim and pick pumpkins 

Grandma lives in Hugo, MN so I went and spent the afternoon with my friend Julie in Marine and her lovely dog Milly

And Katie went to her boyfriend, Mason’s house and he asked her to homecoming in New Richmond with a lovely bouquet of flowers and a sign that looks like a 500 swimming sign. 

She said yes 

sports Saturday!

Saturday morning Osten’s Penguin Knights won their 3rd game of the season by a margin of 24-14. 

Katie swam a great big meet at Tartan with her River Falls relays and 200IM and 100 backstroke individual events. She scored 32 points for her team and their team finished 3rd of 12 teams.

Anders is performing with UW Eau Claire Blugolds for his 3rd season. Here is their group photo (first one he’s been able to be in because of COVID). 

We believe he’s 7th from right in back row. Can’t wait to see them perform. They are so impressive. 

the Wildcat Women beat Eau Claire Memorial in a dual meet!

I believe for the first time in forever, the RF Wildcat Women's Swim and Dive defeated Eau Claire 85-84. 

Katie placed 2nd in all her events. 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 100 breast and 400 freestyle relay.

Splits: 200 Medley breast 33.27, 200 free—27.88, 30.66, 32.45 & 33.41, 100 breast—34.18 & 39.97, 4x100 free relay—28.12 & 32.46

Katie was listed in error as a captain. It was a really fun and exciting meet.
