risen indeed

What a beautiful day for the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection! Church at 10:30, lunch with Andre, Ally, Katie, Theo, Osten, Brad and I after finding Easter baskets. Made a yummy crock pot French toast, egg bake and orange juice. Brad and Osten tried an endeavor that of freeze drying candy! A delicious success for sure with skittles, air heads bites and gummy nerds…not success with Kit Kat bites.

Then Anders, Ally and I went shopping to Walmart and came home for dinner of scalloped potatoes and ham & broccoli salad.

Got a view pic of RF, lesson planned and got my steps! Great day.

preparing for Easter

We had planned to go to the Blomgren’s for Easter egg decorating but just couldn’t fit it into the weekend. We are staying home, cleaning and planning the week ahead. Tomorrow we’ll host Anders and Ally for Easter brunch and dinner.

the little things

To keep the good times rolling, I got a new hamper for Katie’s bathroom downstairs to help keep organized . I also made a yummy rhubarb gin drink with coconut pineapple flavored water to go along with our Elizabeth’s Special from Steve’s Pizza. What a great day.

warm memory of Uncle Leo

My uncle Leo loved being in the woods and collecting maple sap and boiling it down. His grandson, Tyler just posted this photo of his grandpa and it truly made my day. Leo was an amazing environmentalist and person. He died back in 2012.

birthday celebration and hair color refresh

This evening I met several of my RF Mom friends for dinner celebrating our friend Michelle’s birthday. So fun to catch up.

And I also got a hair color refresh!

genes are strong

This is a sweet 3 year old who is poking out her tongue. 👅 I happen to know her great grandmother, great aunt, her Mom and her Mom’s cousin also do this little thing when concentrating.

spring break bonus day!

Originally, we got a call for a two hour delayed start today. Then at 6:30am, we got a call for a snow day! I slept until 8:30 and then did laundry, played Sudoku, Wordle, read and made lunch for Osten, Katie, Theo and Brad. We had puffy oven pancake.

Then I designed and sent invites to print for Katie’s graduation party. I also called Mariachi, who we would like to cater her party and found they already have a booking for that day, same time! We’ll think of alternatives or hope they can squeeze us in.

Dinner was red beans and rice, ring bologna and cole slaw. Then time for call to Mom and a walking work out. Tomorrow it’s back to reality and a regular day of school. It was nice to have a bonus day. It was fun to see all the geese and ducks wandering around town today looking for spots to build a nest and navigating the big snow piles.

Palm Sunday

Church this morning and a beautiful Palm Sunday celebration Pastor Steve brings such a fun musical presence. Lunch at Table on Main, gazing at the big fat snowflakes falling, doing a major deep clean of the downstairs bathroom, watching NCAA basketball, getting a phone call for a 2 hour weather delay tomorrow 🥳.

I’m starting to re read the Little House series and hope to get to the Long Winter before this snow melts❤️

start day in Ely, destination HOME

We slept great at the Grand Ely Lodge, played in the game room (Karen is the ping pong champ) and then headed to a sweet little coffee shop called Northern Grounds. We drove to Hinkley for a lunch at White Castle and then to Grantsburg to drop off the snow dog and hang out with Brent and Ike, who are on Spring break this coming week.

Now we’re on our way home and are eagerly awaiting the time to see Katie again.

farewell Snowbank!

Up to a cozy 47 degree cabin for breakfast, a hike with Osten and a game of cribbage with Brad. We packed up the cabin and got back to shore. I walked ahead of Brad and Osten and discovered open water near the landing. They thankfully made it back to the landing safely.

We drove in to Ely to have lunch at DQ and went to the Dune 2 movie at the historic State Theater in Ely. Good movie! Next we drive to the Grand Ely Lodge to warm up and have dinner. Now we’re watching March madness basketball and toggling between movies.
