back to St James and goodbye January

Mom is back in St James, not quite at home, but at Good Sam for recovery. Thanks to Kurt and Kyle for getting her to St James!  

The day was picture perfect weather as I got the city at sundown.

Today I got to see my friend Julie and celebrate her birthday the 31st time! We went to Brick and Bourbon in Stillwater 🍸

Katie and I went to Woodhouse Spa in Woodbury for 80 minute full body massage to celebrate her 18th birthday! It’s fitting as Woodbury is where she was born. 

The massages were wonderful and I’d love to make this a tradition! 

 

back to visit Mom

The morning, Brad, Katie, Osten and I packed up and headed to Rochester to visit Mom. We stayed just for a few hours and then went to eat at a yummy breakfast spot called Benedict’s. We also attended the end of church in the chapel at St Mary’s. It was pretty amazing as we sang Amazing Grace and had communion.

Today we had our home tournament. We played three games. We played to the best of our ability, but we lost all three. Osten had a blast and ended up scoring 8 points and playing AMAZING DEFENSE.

My dear cousin Christina brought Loie to visit Mom today in Rochester. It was a beautiful reunion. Christina brought pictures of their growing up years and it was so fun for them to look at. Grandpas land sale was also in the paperwork.

I have a sub the next couple days and am at St Mary’s in Rochester hanging out with Mom. The roads were slippery yesterday on my journey. I parked at Lianas place just a little ways from the hospital. She is working here for her internship and will be finishing up this spring with her doctor of PT. 

Mom is not looking as well as she was Sunday, very sleepy due to the fact she’s getting hourly blood sugar checks throughout the night. It’s so great being able to spend time with her! We watched the Timberwolves beat the Wizards and bid one another good night. 

We said good night and then Liana and I walked to her place. I set up my cot and fell asleep easily.

Our driven nephew and cousin Joe has committed to run for the UWEC Blugolds!

Is the woman who calls me daughter. She is 88 years old, is managing pain and also was able to play a game of solitaire today. Hope you keep your incredible positive attitude and return to wellness soon mumfintino! 

mom in Rochester

This morning I was planning to attend church when Kyle called to let me know Mom was on her way to Rochester to get evaluated. She had fallen in her apartment and broke her back and ribs. 

I got Gromit to an alternate residence to be cared for by another family. Osten, Katie and I had Jimmy John’s for lunch and then I drove to Rochester. Mom was in the ER in a room with Cory. She looked great, denied pain and was very conversational. She was put in a back brace and then was released to a private room. Kyle and Liana then came in to spend time with Grandma. I hope she returns to mobility and Brandt Ridge eventually.

Tonight our friend group had our annual Baileys party just in a different year. Katie is at a concert in St. Paul. Brad is up north at the cabin and I had a wonderful hike earlier today. 

Pretty great day I would say!

Started the day with a walk and had a great day at school wearing our dearly departed teacher, Mitch clothing!

Our sweet baby girl is celebrating her golden birthday today. We started the day with cupcakes for breakfast and singing. 🎵 sending all our love to Katie Cat Corn, Beata, pup cakes, finga nails, sandwiches.

Today, one of our classroom parents gave a demonstration on glass blowing. He created a piece based on artwork our classroom created under the direction of my colleague, Markell. It was mind blowing and educational. Thanks Eion for sharing your talent and to my students for your curiosity!

Sister in Law Molly turned 45 today! She celebrated by bowling with her family.

Osten’s confirmation buddy is Ruth Emerson. She will be meeting with him and praying with him over the next few years. What a great pair!
