fleeting days of summer

These days are fleeting! Finished a book, Summer Storms, early this morning and then went for a walk with friends Michelle and Sarah. Off to the gym to work out and then to Woodbury to pick up a new mouth guard for Osten. Now I’m hanging out doing classroom prep. I’m excited for the school year to begin, but I don’t want Katie to leave for Mankato and Osten to start high school. 

I’m going to cherish every last moment of these fleeting days.

Tonight we hosted my brother Kurt for steak, potatoes, sweet corn, salad and some home made chocolate chip cookies. I spent the day tidying and cleaning the house and Brad and Osten mowed the yard & Brad grilled the steaks. We had a great time and watched the Twins/Yankees game. 

Kurt is the executive director of the USDA Farm Services for the state of Minnesota. It was fun to hear about his job in St. Paul and how he’s balancing life on the farm.

Today, Brad took his little tractor to a mechanic to help get it running properly.

We are blessed with a bounty of beautiful flowers! I made a yummy dinner for Brad, Osten and myself this evening. It’s been a lovely

 summer day.

It’s been a hot and humid past couple days. This morning, Katie and I went to a yoga class and the temperature was 92 degrees in the studio. Our legs and entire bodies were dripping in sweat. It felt invigorating. We got goosebumps as we walked outside into the 82 degree day.

Last night, I had to get up to finish this book…a page turner. 

Today, I enjoyed the beauty of our UWRF campus and the new STEM building. So lovely!

The beautiful rain and sunny days have been very friendly to our flowers…loving it. 

big day—braces for Osten Honda Civic for Katie

We knew of one big change, Osten’s braces journey has started. Another development was purchasing a 2010 Honda Civic for Katie to use in her sophomore

year at Mankato. The car has 276,000 miles and needs new tire, but we got it for a good price. We shall see if it was a good deal or not in a few months.

We had some leftovers from the Q party and today I made some pasta sauce… so satisfying and yummy.

Also finished the YouTube series 50 states in 50 days. What a fun summer watch and they raised $11 million for St. Jude’s.

My thoughtful husband bought me a bouquet of beautiful gladiolus and sunflowers to split with his mom. 

My bestie Julie bought me a sunflower bouquet too! 

Katie’s boyfriend bought her a lovely bouquet of roses and lilies. I love summer flowers!

Our gorgeous niece Dehlia celebrated her quinceañera today. She turned 15 in November, but wanted to celebrate in the summer. What a beautiful day with family.
