cabin time

Last night after school, Osten and I hopped in the Prius and headed to Snowbank to meet Brad and Betty for the weekend. Brad and Betty arrived on Thursday and got everything opened up and settled in.

Osten and I stopped for dinner in North Branch and enjoyed KFC. Then we stopped in Cloquet for Aldi groceries and gas. As we traveled, we listens to the Wildcat Homecoming game. They defeated Chippewa Falls team 28-27…so fun to listen to! Then we arrived at the landing at 9:45 where Brad was waiting to pick us up and drive us to the cabin in our boat.

Dorothy had a sweet little lantern she would put out in the dock to welcome guests and Brad put it on the end of the dock last night. It was so welcoming!

I slept well, got up this morning and had yogurt, granola and berries and coffee. Read a little and then went for a beautiful long hike to Flash Lake and to a hiking campsite off the Snowbank trail.

Back to the cabin to help get an old fridge out and a new used fridge in. It wasn’t pretty nor easy, but we broke a step on the deck, a seat in the boat but it’s in place. Brad will set it up tomorrow night to see if it works…we certainly hope it works!

Betty made a yummy dinner of ribs, cornbread and salad. I made us s’mores with Reese’s peanut butter cups and now we’re hanging out, playing cards, reading and playing on our phones. Soon it’s time for bed.

football game and tutoring

My boys were busy today. Osten’s 7th grade football team defeated Hudson 8-6. He played a few different positions and had a blast.

Anders was helping his friend Caroline with some college math homework. I love my boys.

fall is here

The rains of fall have begun. Yesterday was the first official day of autumn. Today Osten and I went on a little road trip to Red Wing to pick up some pumpkins for fall decorating. These are the ones I picked out for the office.

We saw a few rainbows on the drive home as there was sunshine and rain at the same time. Pretty spectacular sight to see.

Went to Bunco at my friend Graces house tonight and missed a call from my beautiful mother. I tried to call her back when I got home, but she wasn’t available. I hope to talk to her tomorrow.

bacon bashed

What a delightful surprise to find Anders and his crew of friends arrive at our house for River Falls Bacon Bash yesterday. Nathan, Caroline, Ally and Anders so sweetly posed for a family photo.

bad news bears

We’re currently at the hunting shack after driving up to Grantsburg to watch Henry play in his homecoming game. We arrived in time to watch Henry get his elbow dislocated.

The Pirates we’re winning by a landslide at the half 50-0, so we drove to the ER to check on Henry. We saw his Dad and sisters Sophia and Stella in the ER. It was a surprise to see him as it’s been years!

Now we’re at the shack watching the classic movie Bad News Bears.

thank you Joe for getting us tickets!

What an exciting weekend watching a very talented football player and his team win in the FargoDome! Anders responded with this cute snap…he and Joe were buddies back in elementary, middle and high school.

bison weekend

Brad, Osten and I traveled to the great white north of Fargo, North Dakota to see Joe Stoffel play at the Fargodome. Our friends’ son Eli also got an offer to play for the Bison in 2025 as he’s currently a junior in high school. Super fun day and now we’re hanging out in our hotel room watching movies. There are 31 people in our group…what a cheering section.

I was nominated by another RF Mom friend (actually two Molly and Traci) to be in the senior photo challenge. I get to post photos of my senior for 10 days with no explanation. I’ve posted two days worth and nominates my cousin Melinda and friend Julie.
