concert for Katie.

Tonight Katie is going to a concert with her friend Emily. I will be hanging out with Emily’s Mom Hjordi. Should be a fun evening to close out the month of March.

The concert was Conan Gray at the Armory in Minneapolis. Hjordi and I threw axes at Bad Axe and dined at Rock Bottom Brewery. Lots of fun and laughter.

Double bulls eye!

planting

Today our class planted wheat grass for centerpieces at Summer and Erica’s shower on April 9. We’re eager to see their growth.

last Middle School orientation and first run in a while

We took our baby to his middle school orientation night and I went in my first run since October 24.

We attended with Coulter and his Mom Marci and went out for DQ afterwards. Now the boys are playing video games and I’m stretching from my run.

cool weaving from our trip to Fort Walton Beach

When we went to the museum at Fort Walton beach, it had a display of early cultures who lived in the area and this is one of the artifacts they found. So interesting and I ended up adding a grass to the weaving.

spring is coming!

First Robin in RF and overlook of the city…

down home

On Friday after school, we drove south and stopped to say hello to Mom in St. James and then spent the. Igor at Kurt’s farm.

Up in the morning and off to Wilma Rettke’s memorial service and funeral. It was lovely to see cousin Jenny, Ehrin and Ehrick. Found out Ehrick’s son lives very close to us and plays basketball for the UWRF Falcons.

I think Brad may just be Batman as he spied a lot of robins outside the church…our first sighting of 2022.

We played some Trouble, ate dinner at McDonalds and DQ and enjoyed our visit with Grandma. Osten got to play in the playground of McDonalds. I hope he never outgrows that desire.

happy 26th birthday dear Anna

26 years ago, I was visiting my brother and Anna's Mom Brenda after spring break. They weren't at their home. They were at the hospital for the birth of Anna! I got to meet Anna the next day and was overcome by their beautiful face. Happy birthday Anna--you are a miracle.

Here's a photo of Anna, Abby and Anders several years ago when we came to visit them in Iowa:

day 9 home sweet home!

On the road at 7:11am from Effingham, Illinois. We drove through rain for most of the way to the Wisconsin line.

Lunch at McDonalds in Rockford, Illinois including a shamrock shake.

Bridge near Peru, Illinois, the birthplace of Cory Lee

On our drive, Osten and I watched Shrek and Happy Feet. Another activity was reading our state book. We also listened to the news that there is a new Minnesota Twin, Correa. Osten was super excited. We also listened to Pregame of the MN Timberwolves. The Timberwolves defeated the Bucks by a large margin 138-119.

We got home and watched the Timberwolves, did laundry, unpacked, and went on a nice long walk. Now Brad and I are watching a movie called Belfast. It’s great to be home.

day 8 Effingham

We departed our sweet condo in Fort Walton Beach, Florida at 6:30 am, dropped our recycling at the recycling center and hit the road.

We ran into some nasty weather around River Falls, Alabama and kept driving north. We stopped at an Arby’s for lunch and saw River Falls, Alabama was in a tornado warning. I hope no one was injured.

The rest of our drive was dotted with some rain but nothing like tornados. Interesting coincidence, Cory & Joan flew into Nashville the same day we drove through! What a small world.

Now we’re watching the NCCA tournament with Iowa State playing LSU. So much fun! The Cyclones defeated Tigers...next round for the Cyclones.

day 7 FWB Happy St. Patrick’s Day

We were up to see the sunrise/moonset at 6:45am. Brad found a little shrimp on shore and we saw a man catching a catfish.

Then we went on a donut/coffee run to Oskaloosa donuts. Back to the condo for a walk and a lunch of steak and corn on the cob.

Next, we went to the Indian Mound museum and shopping for some keepsakes. Back to the beach for another walk and some time in the water. I finished my book and came upstairs for a dinner of leftovers.

Went down to watch the moonrise/sunset and now upstairs getting packing for our early departure tomorrow morning.

day 5 Fort Walton Beach and journey to Destin

It was forecasted to rain most of the day today so we decided to engaged in some indoor activities. First was the air force armament museum here in Fort Walton Beach. It was interesting and educational.

On our way to the next stop, we got a donut and coffee for mid morning snack. Yum. Next, we drove to the aquarium to discover most of the exhibit was outside. We left and drive to Destin to watch a movie. On our way, we decided to do lunch at a hibachi grill. Osten and Katie had never had the experience and our chef was delightful. He made an onion volcano and flipped eggs expertly. We loved every minute.

We got to Destin and realized the movies were sold out. Everyone else had the same idea! So we shopped at a mall for about an hour and a half. Back to the condo where Katie and I went for a walk and did a little more shopping.

Then we went to a local theater that served dinner while we watched  The Batman. We enjoyed the movie and when we got back to the condo, Katie and I went out to look at the Gulf to hear the amazing surf…I would say it’s a double red flag day…yikes it’s big.

I did my grades and now it’s about time for bed.

happy 52nd birthday dearest Brad

We are celebrating Brads 52nd birthday with our family Christmas, delicious Old southern BBQ and my first pumpkin pie and watching the Vikin...
