feels like summer!
Wow! The shade was a very welcome spot today at our PE time. Osten and I played a little baseball to celebrate the warm weather.

Osten’s team played at noon. They lost their game but they are looking much stronger every week.
At 1:15, Katie’s swim meet started. They didn’t allow spectators so we got to watch via YouTube which was very handy. She swam the breast portion of the 200 Medley relay, the 200 IM, the opening leg of the 200 freestyle relay, and the 100 breaststroke. She looked so strong on everything.

bite
I’m bundled up on our couch watching the River Falls Wildcats playing a team in Sun Prairie Wisconsin…very close game 6-7 in the 3rd quarter. Evidently Sun Prairie is state ranked so it’s very exciting times at the Olson house.
Update, the Wildcats lost but it was a close game. So thankful for YouTube broadcast!
luck of the draw swim meet
Once per year the Wildcats swim team draws straws for what event you’ll swim. Last night was that night. Katie swam the 200 free on JV, the 500 free on varsity, the 200 free relay & the 100 free relay.
She did great, but was pretty tired after her rigorous schedule. I’m sure she slept well.

love on tour
We’ve been eagerly anticipating this concert for many months. Harry Styles performed at the Xcel Energy Center before an enthusiastic crowd of adoring fans.
Amazing performance of music, dancing and entertaining. Thanks to Harry Styles and his band. I will not soon forget the experience.
my commute
I think I have one of the most picturesque commutes of anyone I know. This is over the Veterans Park Bridge on the Kinni.

a happy little encounter
I took the afternoon for an appointment in Burnsville. I saw some destruction from the tornadoes that rolled through the area early this morning and also got a chance to do a little shopping at Burnsville Center. As I was heading home, my friend Julie called and asked if we could meet up. She was driving home from a trip to Michigan.

swearing in ceremony
Osten was sworn in as a safety patrol this morning in front of his elementary school. What a festive occasion!
crisp air
Training for my Karenthon has been wonderful for the most part. On Wednesday morning I woke at 4:30 to get my 9 miler done before heading to school. It felt amazing. The temperature was perfect for running.
Got home and showered up, dressed for school and walked outside. Yikes it was cold! Temps in the mid 40s. It sure felt a lot warmer when I was moving!

beauty of autumn
Today my dear assistant Petra picked some beautiful nature art and read from an amazing book about the reason a woman studied botany. It was all related to the beauty of asters and golden rod and how they grow near one another. It was really a very lovely start to our day and week.

opening day for the Vikings
We’re wearing purple in our living room right now. Go Vikings! They are currently tied 7-7 with the Bengals.
big day
In the morning, Osten had his first football game of the season. We lost 33-6. Osten was pretty frustrated but flags were really hard for our team to pull.
Then we went to Art on the Kinni here in town with Ibby and Mike who were here to visit.
Next, Brad surprised Osten with a trip to the Twins game versus The Kansas City Royals. The Twins beat the Royals 9-2. Osten’s favorite player, Byron Buxton hit a home run. Followed by homers by Polanco, Gordon, Kepler and then Polanco again. Osten’s friend, Luke and his brother Miles were the announcers during the 4th inning.
Lastly, Katie, Ibby, Dehlia and I went to Treasure Island Casino to see Lizzo perform. She presented her first show in 2 years. Her Mom, who was celebrating her birthday, was in the audience. Only down side was sitting in the parking lot for nearly two hours due to a traffic jam. We got home at 2am. It was a long day!

what a great night!
Katie’s first JV/Varsity meet was so fun!
She swam three 50 meter free styles two in varsity relays and one in a JV stand alone.
The first was in a medley relay where her time was 29.02. Her team placed sixth.
The second was her individual where she placed first on JV (would have placed 5th on varsity) with a time of 31.29.
The third was opening leg of 200 free relay where she left her team in 2nd place her time was 31.19. Team ended up placing 5th of six teams.
Her last event was JV 100 breast. Her time was 1:30.88 and she placed first in JV. She would have placed 5th on varsity. Her teammate Ellery broke the school record in this event with a time of 1:09.32. Earlier in the evening she broke a pool record for the 50 freestyle.
The Wildcats lost to the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abe’s but it looked like they had a lot of fun.
Anders was there with me and it was great to spend time with him, listen to him talk to old friends and see he and Katie hugging and respecting one another. After the meet, Anders and I went out for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. So fun to sit and chit chat!
