the wolves for a win!

The MN Timberwolves just beat the New York Knicks 102-101. They stormed back from a 11 point deficit in the last quarter! 

A big reason we won was our #1 draft pick Anthony Edwards. The Timberwolves’ record is 12-36 this season.

everyone knows it’s windy

I did get notifications that it would be windy today...Wowza, they were totally correct! I think it’s finally stopped blowing but it would have been a perfect day to fly a kite!

We relocated the wood rack back up to the hunting shack today. We stopped by Brent and Molly’s cabin to make sure everything was ok in their absence.

My friend Meg shared a wonderful series about the life of Jesus and how his disciples were called to him. I’ve just started watching and it is pretty amazing.

After another day of yard work, this time at the office, we went to Enrique’s in Prescott for dinner. We were blessed with all 5 of us dining together! 

it’s official...spring is here!

Last night I was in a walk and discovered the first robin of the year. This morning I went on another walk and guess what? Another robin sited.

Today Katie and I spent three hours clearing out the yard of 2020 leaves and garden leavings. We discovered all sorts of green growing things. Ferns, bulbs, little blue flowers, hostas and rhubarb. Spring is here! 

the last day of our spring break getaway

All good things must come to an end. We are safely home in River Falls and basking in memories of a terrific Spring Break.

We got to witness the sunrise again today! 

Then northern bound for Grand Portage. We got to see the Canadian Border and the biggest waterfall in Minnesota on the Pigeon River. Back down to Grand Marais for lunch. 

 

We stopped at a beautiful Cascade River to see the beautiful waterfalls. We returned to our condo and I went for a walk along the Gitchi Gami Trail for about a mile. Saw a very sweet little resort called Cobblestone Cabins and also several clumps of pussy willows on my walk. 

Back to make dinner, made some Mac Cheese and then we played a little ping pong where I reined family champion. Katie and I then played Trivial Pursuit where she beat me six pie pieces to two. Cozy fire with s’mores and now watching Rain Man.

Our Godchild Anna Grace is celebrating 25 spins around the sun today. Happy happy and more happy birthday. 

Today Brad and I saw the sun rise in Lake Superior. Wow, just wow. 

Then we loaded up the truck to head to Lutsen Mountains to go skiiing and snowboarding. We spent many hours there and had a wonderful time (Katie & I). Brad and Osten played some football, went to Onion River and the Temperance River to hike.

These two photos are from the top of the gondola mountain where Katie and I shared a gaterade towards the end of our day...it was well deserved.

Katie's final run of the day...I actually got to see her boarding from below. She does great work. 

Now we’re playing in the pool area and will go out to dinner soon. We saw a family from River Falls here on the slopes, the Lodge family. It was fun to see some familiar faces so far from home. 

spring break day dos

Up and on a walk with the lovely Liana Marie at her university, St. Scholastica and two great friends of hers. 

Back to the hotel where Osten was in the pool and then we hopped into the truck and traveled to Enger Tower, a beautiful overlook of Duluth Harbor. 

Than lunch at at yummy Vietnamese pho restaurant and off to Tofte. We stopped at Super One in Two Harbors for grocery staples and took a photo of our friend Mike’s work... he’s the produce manager of Super One. 

Back up north to our spot in Tofte. We are very close to Lutsen! Had dinner of leftovers and salad. Then we went to the game room, played ping pong, foosball and a little football. Now we’re watching Indiana Jones and will soon be retiring for the evening. I love our Spring Break!

We are packed and readied for our adventure north. Departing in t minus 10? 

We got on the road about 10am and arrived in Superior about 1pm. Ate lunch at the Anchor Bar in Superior and then toured the Glensheen Mansion. It was absolutely beautiful and amazing to return after my last tour in 1984.

Next to our hotel the Canal Park Lodge that is right on Lake Superior. Osten and I walked the Lake walkway out to a lighthouse and then we went to Barnes and Noble to browse and read for a bit. To dinner at Sammy’s Pizza and then back to our hotel. 

Katie Osten and I went to sit by the outdoor fireplace and then walked to the lift bridge, across the lift bridge and now back to the hotel.
