swimming lessons complete

I believe an Olson from 408 S 6th has been enrolled in swimming lessons at Glen Park since 2004. 2019 was closed because of renovation, but otherwise we’ve been devoted Parent/Child, Bubbles and then levels 1-6.

Osten passed level 6 this morning. We are moving in to other summer past times.

new bathroom sink!

The bathroom remodel is starting to move forward. Brad and I picked out a new sink and vanity for our upstairs bathroom. It needs to be hooked up, but I think we’ll like it!

ortho consult

On the 28th, Osten had to miss swimming lessons to go to an orthodontic consultation. I happen to know the doctor as several of her daughters went to my school here in River Falls. She saw a wiggly tooth in Osten’s mouth and in one pull, had it out!

He has 11 more teeth to go so he has to start wiggling big time!

enjoying the beauty of summer

Today was a very slow day with just swimming lessons for Osten and Katie had evening swim practice. I read a lot and sat in the hammock. Such a lovely day.

reading in the hammock and Tiger the cat (we've been watching him the past week)

reunion of the Pierson family

Nels and Anne Sanders Pierson had six children. Three are still living—two daughters in law are also living. I am a descendent of Nels and Anne Pierson.

Many of our family gathered at Memorial Park in St. James this afternoon. We enjoyed sharing stories and a wonderful potluck meal.

Here are the people who gathered today.

Barb, Debb and Jody (daughters of Bev) and Steve (son in law of Bev).

Ruby (daughter of Nels and Anne) and her kids Sandy and Dan. Son in law, Rod.

Vivian (daughter of Nels and Anne) and her kids Kurt, Kyle, Cory & Karen. In laws Joan, Brad, Cody, Summer  and Kaitie. Her grandkids Jenna, Vance, Ryan, Trenton, Katie & Osten. Her great grandkids Collins & Hayes

Loie (daughter of Nels & Anne) and her daughters Tammi & Trudi

Marilyn (daughter in law of Nels & Anne) and her daughters Missy & Jennifer, son in law Greg and grandchildren Nicolas & Sydney.

The cousins took a photo in reverse age order
And I got a few photos of the sisters and sister in law

And here are a few fun photos

It was a lovely day and much fun was had by all 35 in attendance. Thanks Mom for making this all possible!

thank you Olson’s!

Day 2 of the Mantas swim meet. Katie swam six times. She swam the 200IM, 100 breast and 200 freestyle so well that she qualified for the finals in all three events.

Fast forward to Saturday evening when she swam all three events again. She shaved time off all three.

200IM placed 6th overall with a time of 2:49.53 100 breast placed third overall time 1:27.94 and 200 freestyle seventh overall time 2:33.32.

Molly, Siri and Brad were there to see her final swim of the day…the 200 freestyle.

After the meet, we went to dinner with swimming friends—Macyn, Bradyn, Mason & Mason’s parents Nicole and Matt. The sun was so beautiful as it was setting on the southern MN prairie.

thank you Blomgren’s!

We’re in Mankato for Katie’s MANTAS swim meet. We met Mom, Kyle, Kim and Kurt to pick out a mattress for Mom and to also watch Katie swim her first event in the Mantas swim meet. She killed the 400IM with a gold time of 6:01.

I adore being pampered and today Katie and I got our tips treated. My toes and her fingers. It was a nice time taking care of our feet and hands.

Austin will be hanging out tomorrow until his Dad picks him up after work.

summer solstice half Karenthon complete!

The training had been fun and when I saw the forecasted temperatures for my race day, I realized I needed to set the alarm very early as there were excessive heat warnings for most of the first day of summer.

I woke at 4:10 and was on the road at 4:32 after filling water bottles, snapping a photo, putting my light vest and running shoes on.

I decided to run the first 7 miles and be ok with walking the last 10K. The first 7 felt so good and I had enough fuel (gu and honey waffle & water), that I ran about half of the 10k too in spurts.

Some interesting observations…found nice sunglasses, a nice tie down strap and a golf ball (took the golf ball for Katie to use on her sore foot…left the others). Saw a deer several times as I ran through Mann Valley. The corn in Mann Valley looked so good. The Lab Farm looked a smelled familiar and wonderful. A lot of people go to the McDonalds drive thru on north Main Street. Many people were out distance biking only one other runner. It’s really nice to finish before the temperatures were oppressive.

Now it’s time to stretch, clean a bit and stay cool on this first day of summer.

Statistics…finished in 2:49 finished 13.1 miles

happy Momma!

Mom and Dad moved into an apartment the summer of 2016. In the move they needed to downsize. Mom’s favorite couch didn’t quite fit with two recliners. Her couch found a great home at Kyle and Kim’s family home in rural Butterfield. Now that Dad has passed and she’s down to one recliner, her beloved couch is back home with her.

I LOVE this picture Kyle sent yesterday. Mom looks so happy and peaceful. She reports sleeping so well on this couch so I’m happy she will get some good rest.

happy Fathers Day

Huge shout out to my Dad, brothers Kent, Kurt, Kyle & Cory, my husband Brad and his Dad Bud and brothers/cousin Brent, Mike and Nate.

Our children have benefitted from great role models in their Dads. Evidences by my nephew Stuart and his sweet family of Kyeanna, Kesleigh & Beckham.

end of girls weekend 24

Finished our weekend with face masks and cookie packing. Also hugs to my Beata whom I’ll see in just a few days when I pick her up from MSU.
