cruising Gull Lake

To cap off the birthday celebration we had a boat cruise on Gull Lake. It was a beautiful summer day. We got to steer the boat and had a nice meal on board. What a perfect way to wrap up the last days of summer.

celebrating 90 years…

At Cragun’s resort we are celebrating Martha Spear’s 90th birthday with Olson cousins. The weather has not been perfect, but the kids have had fun in the pool and adults have had fun sharing history with one another.

and the swim season begins!

The Wildcat girls swim team has their opening meet this evening. Katie wasn’t able to swim as she has a sprain in her hip, but I got to time with my friend, Sarah and watch some great swimming. A girl named Ellery Ottem did set a pool and school record in the 100 breast stroke. Such a fun evening!

new Hauser in the house

Stop the presses…
Jenna, Cody, Stella and Collins Hauser welcome 8 pound 4 ounce 20 inch Hayes John Hauser to their loving family. He will be showered with love and attention when he arrives home to his big sisters.

I do see a resemblance to his big sister Collins…

start of year 2!

We dropped Anders off for his second year at UW EauClaire. He was able to move in early because he has marching band camp all week from 8am-8pm. We gifted him with a t-shirt quilt from high school T-shirt’s and took him grocery shopping.

Fly High Anders Cole!

Earlier in the day I ran a half marathon in my marathon training. It was a perfect day for a run!

destination Milwaukee

We are on our way to Milwaukee to watch a Brewers game! In the van…Brad, Karen, Katie, Osten and Osten’s friend Michael. So excited for our day of adventure.

Anders is staying home to try and readjust to regular time zone before he heads off to Blue Gold matching band camp next week. He’ll move into his new dorm room in the Suites on Sunday.

Super fun day! Tailgating before the game looked like so much fun. Getting a new baseball cap and taking some batting practice in games at the stadium was a highlight. Also seeing Stephen Colbert apologize to Milwaukee for being so rude during the pandemic and running a sausage race was pretty memorable.

The Brewers lost to the Nationals, but we still had a lot of fun.

#13 for HLQ and #4 for the Hauser’s

Our charming and handsome nephew Henry Loren Q is now a teenager!

Our beautiful niece Jenna and her dashing husband Cody are celebrating 4 years of wedded bliss.

valley fair!

This morning after Katie had 3 hours of swim practice and I ran 6 miles, K, O and I drove to Shakopee to spend the day at Valley Fair. Luckily, we bought tickets online as they were sold out.

It was hot, we saw the Minnesota Golden Gopher football team there heading to the water park and lots of happy and hot people.

Osten loved the wave pool and so did Katie. I loved getting no our updated caricature. Fun day!

veggie lasagna, beet cake, 37 weeks and playing with friends

Last night I was in charge of dinner and made two lasagnas…one meat and one veggie. The veggie had zucchini, sweet pepper, carrots and onion (all were from our CSA box thx Petra!), tomatoes that were blended with my immersion blender, cottage cheese and 9 lasagna noodles.

The other was made with leftover grandma Betty spaghetti sauce from last week. Both were yummy!

The cake was made from beet purée (thx CSA box) made from beets, orange juice, garlic, orange peel and ginger. Outstanding cake!

This morning I got this adorable snap from Jenna Louise who is looking beautiful as a soon to be momma of three.

Today we hosted Osten’s buddy Coulter at the Glen Park pool and then to Hoffman park at the Tri-Angels Playground. Right now they are playing basketball and will probably be wrapping up their time together soon.

como park Japanese obon lantern lighting

This evening Katie and I ventured to St. Paul to watch obon lanterns being released into the frog pond at the Como Park Conservatory. Beautiful fragrant summer flowers, music from a koto, warm breezes and an interesting crowd made a memorable evening.
